Backing up of data is a necessity against unforeseen circumstances. By default, WhatsApp automatically create a backup of your chats by 4AM daily. These backups are stored in your phone memory and can be restored later in the same phone.
Unfortunately, you cannot restore a backup or chat history from an android phone to an iOS device or vise versa unless you create a backup to your Gmail account or to cloud.
Be that as it may, making a manual backup of your WhatsApp history is not too hard because anyone can do it. Follow my guidelines below.
How to Backup Your WhatsApp Chat History
- Launch WhatsApp on your phone.
- Navigate to settings
- Select chats
- Click on chat backup
- Select the Google account for backup and save.
How To Restore WhatsApp Chat History
- When updating or installing a whatsapp on your new phone, select your Gmail account where your WhatsApp backup is saved
- Then tap restore to restore your chat history
When you backup to your Gmail account, you can restore it at anytime even if you lost or change your phone.
